We are in the seventh week of the marking period, and in the midst of working on the origami-fold name books. Next week, you will learn how to make the cover and assemble the book. Books must be finished by the end of the following week, on November 8. Remember, projects may not be carried over to the next marking period.
We have reached the half-way point in the marking period, and everyone should have received interim marking period reports. (You averages are also posted on Jupiter Grades.)
The folders are finished; they demonstrate an impressive array of interests and ideas, and some wonderful responses to the assignment given. Students were asked to create an image using colored pencil, marker, texture plates, stencils and freehand drawing. The image had to provide a rich visual experience, and allow the viewer to learn something about the student. Please look at the Art Gallery for the results. Students are now working on designing the pages of their origami name books, exploring the visual language of design, specifically principles of pattern, rhythm, emphasis and contrast. During the week of October 21-225, student will bring home a permission form for the Junior Class Field Trip to the Whitney Museum of American Art. Please fill it out and send it back to school as soon as possible. |
